The government of Odisha has taken an initiative to enhance the importance of language, for which govt is providing the Vyasakabi Fakirmohan Bhasabruti 2025 scholarship. This scholarship will help students who are studying Bachelor’s in Odia or a Master’s degree in Odia. The scholarship is meant to help financially those who study Language Odia and a meritorious one.

Vyasakabi Fakirmohan Bhasabruti 2025 is under the scheme of “Mukhyamantri Medhavi Chatra Prostahan Yojana” by the Government of Odisha under the Higher Education dept. By understanding the vital role of language in preserving cultural identity and heritage. This initiative of promoting scholarship indicates the state’s commitment to promote and enhance the Odia language.

From the academic year 2024-25, a once-in-year financial grant of Be 20,000/ at Under Graduate level & Rs 30,000/ at Post Graduate level.

Scholarship for Bachelor of Arts(B.A) Odia

To become eligible to get the scholarship under the scheme, students have to fulfil the below parameters:-

Under Graduate (U.G) Level: All students (irrespective of their domicile) who have obtained a minimum of 70% marks in aggregate in the 2 Examination conducted by the CHSE, Odisha, or any other equivalent board. Then enrolled in +3 Arts with Odia as the Honours/Core/ Major subject in any of the Universities, Degree Colleges or Autonomous Colleges in Odisha or outside the State, are eligible to get this scholarship at the undergraduate level.

Post Graduate (P.G) Level:

All students (irrespective of their domicile) who have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in Odia Honours/core/major during their +3 Arts course and have taken admission to M.A. (Odia) courses in any of the Universities.

Even, Degree Colleges or Autonomous Colleges in Odisha or outside the State are eligible to get this scholarship at the postgraduate level.

This scholarship guideline given recently should supersede the guidelines provided earlier by the Department in this regard. Students who are recipients of other scholarships may also apply for the Vyasakabi Fakir Mohan Bhasabruti Scholarship in addition to any other ongoing scholarship schemes. Applications for this scholarship shall be submitted during the first year of the course.

a.Students studying UG with Odia Honours

Students pursuing a +3 Arts degree with Odia as their Honours/Core/ Major subject will be assessed based on their aggregate marks secured in the +2 examinations conducted by CHSE, Odisha, or any other recognized equivalent board.

b. Students studying PG in Odia

Students enrolled in the M.A. (Odia) program will be evaluated based on their marks in Odia Honours/Core/ Major subjects in the final examinations of their +3 Arts course. The marks for Odia Honours/Core subjects, as entered and certified by the respective institute in the application form at the time of validation of forms in the scholarship portal, will be considered for awarding the scholarship.

During the scholarship process, if any errors are made by the institute while entering marks in the application form, the institute will be held accountable. Responsibility for such errors will lie with the Nodal Officer and the Committee members of the scholarship cell of the concerned institute. Furthermore, the institute will be held accountable if any eligible student is denied the scholarship due to such errors.

The institutions desiring to avail of this scheme’s benefits need to be registered on the State Scholarship Portal.

Exclusion Criteria: Students pursuing higher education through distance learning or correspondence courses are not eligible under the scheme.

Required Documentation for the Scholarship

Applicants must upload clear and legible copies of the following documents when applying through the State Scholarship Portal.

a) Proof of Residency:

a. A valid residence certificate issued by an authorized official, like the concerned Tahasildar or Additional Tahasildar of your respective area.

b. For students whose parents are employed by the Odisha State Government, a residence verification document from their employer may be submitted instead.

c. Students residing and pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies outside Odisha must upload their nativity certificate/ residence certificate.

b) Qualifying Exam Mark Sheets:

a. Academic transcripts or mark sheets relevant to the scholarship eligibility criteria.

c) Bank Account Details:

a. Details of an Aadhaar-linked and operational savings bank account.

b. A scanned copy of the first page of the bank passbook displaying the account number and the bank’s IFSC code.

d) College Identification:

a. An official college ID card

b. If the college ID card is not available, a letter duly validated by the college authorities, specifying the academic year, name and duration of the course, and the student’s roll or registration number, must be uploaded.
